A Bridg Too Far

Day 7 - Biloxi Ms - Non Travel Day

Hot, windy and muggy this morning. We haven't exercised in two days and last night trying to get to sleep I was trying to think of somewhere around here that we could walk. This campground is small and the neighborhood around it isn't a safe place to walk. Before Katrina, there was a great boardwalk for miles on the beachfront. Was.

It came to me that there was a brand new bridge not far away...of course! They make walking/biking lanes on new bridges. So we took the Jeep over to the Biloxi side...the Ocean Springs side looked to be awfully far but we made it. The walk back was steeper and it started to get hot with temps in the mid 80's. I was feeling every minute of my age by the last half mile! I measured it when we got back with the Gmaps pedometer and we walked approx. 3.5 miles, with a lot of that uphill.

Took an hour before lunch to sit out by the pool. We can hardly believe it's snowing in some parts of the country. Later we had some errands to do, took a ride through the neighborhood that we almost bought a house in last year. If I could just pick it up and drop it back down in Charleston...

Went to the Gulfport WalMart for groceries. We use WalMart almost exclusively on these trips because they're all pretty much laid out the same and we can find everything fast...oh yeah, and cheap!

Just like home, laundry must be done. The laundry here at the RV park was spotless and had plenty of washers/dryers but it's still the least favorite part of the whole RV experience, yuk.

Made a great dinner while the clothes were drying. Fast, cheap and healthy! See for yourself.
A rotisserie chicken, corn on the cob, steamfresh Brussels sprouts.

After diner we went over to the Hard Rock Casino. That's the place that was all ready for their grand opening when Katrina hit and totally destroyed it. Jim gave me a $20 and it was the worst slot I've every played...only gave me one tiny 'win' of 4 quarters. I went through the $20 really, really fast and didn't want to play more. Jim won $50 on the video polka, as usual...he wins, I lose.

And basically that was it for today. We did have a mini disaster at lunch when I discovered the silverware drawer was full of water. Easy fix, the top of the faucet sprayer was very loose and leaking. Tightened it, and rewashed the silverware...all fixes should be that easy.

Tomorrow, travel day...headed toward Galvelston, Tx. Maybe.

So what is the appetizing "orange pile" on your plate? Huh?

Wow a hike in 80° weather! I would have died. It's a blamy 15° here this morning. Have a fun day!

Good to hear you'll be in Texas soon. Right now, we're experiencing WONDERFUL weather. Cool nights, in the 40's and mild days in the 70's. If you see y'all will be headed near Llano... let me know. There's really nice RV parks in Fredericksburg and here.

Paul, I can't believe I did that with the 'POLKA'...we'll be laughing about that for a long time! What can I say, this Yankee wrote it like she says it. Damn spellcheck! Tears rolling down my face from laughing, glad you caught it!
